United to Conquer Sickle Cell Disease

Repository of Global SCD Educational Resources

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a rare and often misunderstood condition. This is especially true in low-and middle-income nations where resources for advocacy and research are limited. The Sickle Cell Disease Coalition (SCDC) is committed to spreading awareness and disseminating high-quality information about SCD to key stakeholders across the globe. As such, the SCDC developed this repository of educational presentation slides and infographics for domestic and international stakeholders to use when sharing SCD information. These resources are written at a secondary school level to ensure wide accessibility. Any person may use these resources; however, they may only be used in the context of education and training, and appropriate citations should be included. • Presentation Slides
The SCDC developed a repository of educational slides on various aspects of SCD for stakeholders to utilize in presentations. Stakeholders may download the complete slide deck or each section pertinent to their presentation. Please note, the complete slide deck is not designed to be presented as-is, rather to serve as a central repository of potential slides that should be adapted to meet the presentation objectives and learning needs of the audience. The SCDC recommends condensing the content and using lengthier sentences as talking point, as well as adding and citing images as appropriate.
  • Infographics
The SCDC developed six infographics to educate on SCD history, treatment options, and psycho-social factors. These infographics may be utilized in presentations or as standalone resources. Stakeholders are welcome to disseminate these infographics virtually or to print them for physical distribution. Please note, all infographics are licensed by the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and should be cited appropriately.
