Tailored for healthcare professionals, educators, social workers, students, individuals with sickle cell disease, families, and the wider community, this summit employs lectures, discussions, and the sharing of current and future treatment approaches to enhance participants’ understanding of sickle cell disease and trait.
Themed “Unpacking Sickle Cell: One Warrior At A Time,” the 16th Annual Hybrid Sickle Cell Disease Educational Summit features a diverse agenda. Day one focuses on FDA-approved therapies, pipeline treatments, and curative options. Day two delves into advocacy, emergency room experiences, incarcerated care, and nurse training, followed by sickle cell trait education, newborn screening, and a Celebration of Life ceremony. Day three features keynote speaker sessions, including tributes to esteemed figures, alongside specialized sessions for nurses, patients, and psychosocial considerations. The summit concludes on day four with additional keynote sessions and the choice between patient-focused or physician-focused tracks, covering various aspects of living with or treating sickle cell disease.
